Strasbourg, 15.06.2012 – Josette Durrieu (France, SOC), rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for post-monitoring dialogue with Turkey, will undertake a fact-finding visit to Ankara and Istanbul from 18 to 21 June 2012.
Talks are planned with the President of the Republic and with the Ministers for Foreign Affairs, Justice, and Family and Social Policies of Turkey. She will also meet the Speaker of Parliament, the Chair of the Conciliation Committee in charge of constitutional reform, the Turkish delegation to PACE and representatives of political parties, the judiciary, the international community, civil society and the media.
Ms Durrieu will also visit Silivri prison, where she should be meeting with three parliamentarians, the former head of the armed services and journalists and academics held in custody.
