Resolution 1241 (2001)[1]
Credentials of the delegation
of the Russian Federation
-
At the
opening of the first 2001 part-session on Monday 22 January 2001, the
credentials of the delegation of the Russian Federation were challenged
on substantial grounds in relation with the conflict in the Chechen Republic.
-
Despite
some recent progress made, the Assembly remains gravely concerned about
the human rights situation in the Chechen Republic. It nevertheless believes
that the Russian parliamentary delegation deserves to be given another
chance to prove that it is willing ? and able ? to influence the situation
in the Chechen Republic for the better.
-
The Assembly,
having examined the issue, decides to ratify the credentials of the new
Russian delegation.
