| The Assembly, |
| 1. Recalling its Recommendation 902 (1980) on youth
co-operation in Europe, and Recommendation 1019 (1985) on the participation of young
people in political and institutional life ; |
| 2. Repeating its call for greater recognition by Assembly
committees and political groups of the preoccupations of young people in Europe, and for
the closer involvement of young people in Assembly activities ; |
| 3. Welcoming, as an interesting initiative, the decision by
the Liberal, Democratic and Reformers Group to invite on a regular basis two youth
representatives to participate in group meetings during Assembly sessions, |
| 4. Calls on the other political groups to follow this
example and for the provision of financial support from the Assembly budget ; |
| 5. Asks all committees to seek more actively to reflect the
views of young people in the preparation of reports and to play a more active part in
relevant activities organised by the Council of Europe in the youth sector ; |
| 6. Asks its Committee on Culture and Education to continue
to assure (in particular through its Sub-committee on youth and sport) liaison with
Council of Europe activity in the youth sector and to co-ordinate the involvement, where
appropriate, of other Assembly committees. |
