RECOMMENDATION 781 (1976)[1]

on Council of Europe action for the future of the performing arts

The Assembly,

1. Referring to its Resolution 624 on the democratic renewal of the performing arts, and to the principles it contains ;

2. Recognising that the performing arts should be considered in the context of the general socio-cultural development of democratic society,

3. Recommends that the Committee of Ministers :

a. give consideration to these principles in the light of the reaction of the Ministers of Culture meeting in Oslo on 15-17 June 1976 ;

b. investigate, in collaboration with EEC, Unesco and the Nordic Council, the social status of performing artists in Europe and the means of assuring them normal conditions of employment.
