The European Museum Forum is an independent and non-profit organisation committed to raising the standard of museums throughout Europe, it runs under the auspices of the Council of Europe and organises the annual European Museum of the Year Award for newly built or improved museums. Other activities include international workshops, lectures and publications including a quarterly Bulletin. The highlight of the year is the Annual Meeting, a international conference which culminates in the announcement of the Winner of the European Museum of the Year Award title.
The European Museum Forum is under the patronage of Queen Fabiola of Belgium.
