Rapporteur on combating discrimination against transgender people to make fact-finding visit to the United Kingdom

Deborah Schembri (Malta, SOC) will make a fact-finding visit to the United Kingdom from 9 to 11 December, as part of the preparation of her report on discrimination against transgender people in Europe.

In London, she is due to meet the Minister for Women and Equalities and members of the Equality and Human Rights Commission. In Edinburgh, she will hold meetings with representatives of the Scottish Human Rights Commission and with representatives of NGOs working for the protection of transgender people’s rights, such as the Scottish Transgender Alliance (STA).

Other visits will be organised shortly in Spain and Turkey.
