Monitoring co-rapporteurs to visit Ukraine

Mailis Reps (Estonia, ALDE) and Jean-Claude Mignon (France, EPP/CD), co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on the honouring of obligations and commitments by Ukraine, today began a visit to the country, ending on 22 May.

They will mainly assess recent developments and the political environment, constitutional reform and reform of law enforcement structures, as well as decentralisation and the situation in the regions.

In Kyiv, the co-rapporteurs are due to meet the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, the Interior Minister, and the heads of the working groups of the Constitutional Commission.

They will participate in two round tables organised successively in Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv, one on “Political developments and reform” and the second one on “Conflict and its consequences, including community relations”. In both cities, they will also meet representatives of local authorities.
