Organised crime and migrants: a rapporteur makes a fact-finding visit to Rome

Irakli Chikovani (Georgia, ALDE), rapporteur for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will be visiting Rome on 20 May, in the context of the preparation of his report on the involvement of organised crime in migrants’ smuggling and exploitation.

During his visit, he will meet representatives of the Ministry of the Interior and the Anti-corruption Authority, as well as the President of the Anti-Mafia Commission.

Talks are also scheduled with representatives of the UNHCR regional office, the UN Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute, and the International Organization for Migration.
