Co-rapporteurs make monitoring visit to Albania

Jonathan Evans (United Kingdom, EDG) and Andrej Hunko (Germany, UEL), co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for the monitoring of obligations and commitments by Albania, will make a fact-finding visit to that country on 29-30 June 2015.

Discussions are expected to mainly focus on the follow up to PACE Resolution 2019 (2014) – in particular with regard to the reform of the judiciary and the fight against corruption – as well as on the Administrative Territorial Reform, the outcome of local elections, the co-operation between the ruling majority and the opposition, and the implementation of December agreements.

In Tirana, the co-rapporteurs are due to meet the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the Assembly, the Minister of Justice and the Minister of State on Local Issues. Talks are also scheduled with the Chairman of the Democratic Party, the Albanian delegation to PACE, the Commission for Implementation of the December Agreement, the Central Election Commission, the Ombudsman, as well as with representatives of NGOs and international organisations.
