New seminar for staff of national parliaments on ECHR

The next in a series of seminars for staff of national parliaments, aimed at improving their knowledge of the European Convention on Human Rights and in particular regarding the execution of judgments of the Court, will be held in Strasbourg on 26-27 September 2016. Similar seminars, also in co-operation with the PACE Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights, were held in 2013 and 2014 in Strasbourg.

Participants from 11 Member States (Belgium, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, Sweden and Switzerland) will be given an introduction to the European Court of Human Rights and meet with lawyers of the Court and DG I, in collaboration with the Department for the Execution of Judgments (DG I). They will have the opportunity to hold discussions and share experiences with each other and with lawyers from the Council of Europe.

A presentation will also be given on the activities of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe.
