Seminar to address the right of children to social, legal and economic protection

Since 2013, the PACE Committee on Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development has been organising parliamentary “capacity-building” seminars based on the yearly conclusions of the European Committee of Social Rights (ECSR) and aimed at promoting the European Social Charter.

This year, the seminar will take place on 28 October 2016 in Paris to gather parliamentarians of 14 different member States of the Council of Europe. The debate will focus on “the right of children and young people to social, legal and economic protection” as a topic examined by the ECSR’s 2015 Conclusions.

Parliamentarians and invited experts will share their knowledge and elaborate on policy recommendations concerning the protection of children in the national context, both through legislation and practice.

The event is organised in cooperation with the Department of the European Social Charter of the Council of Europe and the Parliamentary Projects Support Division of the Parliamentary Assembly.
