Making the most out of Kyrgyz Parliament’s partnership with the Assembly
Nearly three years since the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan was granted Partner for Democracy status under the terms of Assembly Resolution 1984 (2014), it has yet to make full use of all opportunities offered by the status.
Meeting with Abdymanap Kutushev, Secretary General of the Parliament, the PACE Secretary General Wojciech Sawicki encouraged the Kyrgyz delegation to participate more actively in the work of the Assembly and its committees.
“The Secretariat of the Assembly stands ready to assist you in finding appropriate ways of strengthening dialogue and co-operation in order for your Parliament to fully benefit from the Assembly’s experience in democratic transition”, he stressed.
The two Secretaries General also discussed the political developments in Kyrgyzstan in the light of recent constitutional amendments, with particular focus on the institutional role of the Parliament.
