PACE deplores ‘senseless violence’ in Barcelona

Sir Roger Gale, the most senior Vice-President of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE), has strongly condemned yesterday’s terror attack in Barcelona, in which 13 people were killed and many dozens hurt.

“We mourn the terrible loss of life and deplore this senseless violence,” he said. “The thoughts of all of us at the Assembly are with those so tragically affected. We are also relieved that further loss of life was avoided during the second incident in Cambrils.”

“This terrorist atrocity will only strengthen our determination to defend democracy and uphold civilised values.”
