Co-rapporteurs to make fact-finding visit to Montenegro

Strasbourg, 29.09.2017 – Ionut Marian Stroe (Romania, EPP/CD) and Andrea Rigoni (Italy, ALDE), co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for the post-monitoring dialogue with Montenegro, will make a fact-finding visit to the country from 2 to 4 October 2017 to discuss the implementation of the Assembly’s latest resolution. They will look in particular into the recent political developments, the independence of the judiciary, the fight against corruption, as well as the situation of the media and civil society.

Meetings are scheduled in Podgorica with the President of the Republic, the Speaker of the Parliament, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, the Montenegrin delegation to PACE, and the leaders of the political factions in Parliament.

The co-rapporteurs will also meet the Director of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption (tbc) and representatives of the judicial authorities, international organisations, and NGOs.
