Involving young people in the fight against corruption

“Young people have an important role to play in the fight against corruption by bringing a new culture of integrity to all levels of society”, PACE has stated, calling on national authorities to involve youth organisations in making and implementing anti-corruption policies concerning politics, education, sports and media.

The resolution adopted by PACE on the basis of a report by Eleonora Cimbro (Italy, SOC), recommends, in particular, that anti-corruption education should be strengthened by introducing integrity studies, from the earliest age, in the school and university curricula, including both aspects of ethical behaviour and a human rights-based approach.

The Assembly also invited the Secretary General of the Council of Europe to consider the feasibility of establishing a platform for integrity under Council of Europe auspices, involving the Joint Council on Youth as appropriate.
