PACE to observe the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova

Strasbourg, 15.02.2019 – A 23-member delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), led by Claude Kern (France ALDE), will travel to the Republic of Moldova from 22 to 25 February to observe the conduct of the parliamentary elections, alongside observers from the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the European Parliament and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).

The delegation will meet, in particular, leaders and representatives of political parties, the Chairperson of the Central Electoral Commission, and representatives of the international community, civil society and the media, before observing the ballot on 24 February.

A member of the Venice Commission – the Council of Europe's group of independent legal experts – will provide legal support during the visit.

A PACE pre-electoral delegation visited Chisinau on 29-30 January.
