Georgia election: as observers’ final verdicts are published, PACE monitors urge follow-up

The co-rapporteurs for the monitoring of Georgia by the Parliamentary Assembly, Titus Corlatean (Romania, SOC) and Claude Kern (France, ALDE), have called on all stakeholders in Georgia to fully implement the recommendations made by international observers following the Presidential election in October and November 2018.

“The OSCE/ODIHR has now published its final report into Georgia’s recent election. We urge all concerned to fully implement the recommendations made here, as well as in the report of the Assembly’s own observer team, especially as regards campaign financing, the media and the abuse of administrative resources,” they said.

“Both reports contain several specific references to alleged violations of election legislation. We expect that all these will be properly investigated and those responsible, if found, held accountable before the law,” they added.
