Gabriela Cuevas: ‘The UN 2030 Agenda is probably the most ambitious challenge facing humanity’

The United Nations 2030 Agenda “is probably the most ambitious challenge facing humanity” said Gabriela Cuevas Barron, President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, introducing Theme 2 of the European Conference of Presidents of Parliament, “Implementing the UN 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals: contribution by parliaments”.

“What we are debating here, what we are looking for, is how to achieve a truly inclusive planet, a world that leaves no one behind,” said the President. And this is not a minor challenge “because we currently have only ten years to transform our planet. If, five years ago, this agenda already seemed very difficult to reach, today it is an imperative of our work for every one of us parliamentarians,” she said.
