Thermonuclear test explosions
The Assembly,
Conscious of the growing concern of the whole of mankind at the dangers to humani ty of the continuance of experimental nuclear explosions ;
Recognising that international disarmament is the only real solution to problems of defence but believing that a suspension of tests would facilitate current negotiations on general disarmament,
Urgently calls upon all the atomic Powers immediately to make effective proposals for the control and limitation of thermonuclear test explosions as a first step towards their prohibition by international agreement, meanwhile postponing further tests for a limited period, so that the response to these proposals may first be considered.
