Freedom of the press and the working conditions of journalists in conflict zones

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, referring to its Resolution 1438 (2005) on freedom of the press and the working conditions of journalists in conflict zones, recommends that the Committee of Ministers :

forward this resolution to the competent ministers ;
monitor respect of freedom of expression and information in the media and the working conditions of journalists in situations of conflict in member states ;
work on this issue with the United Nations, and in particular to collaborate with its Commission on Human Rights or with UNESCO, while maintaining the standards of the European approach towards this issue in accordance with the European Convention on Human Rights and the other relevant legal texts of the Council of Europe.
