The Committee on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men, meeting in Paris on 18 September 2000 with Mrs Roudy (France, SOC) in the Chair:

 

as regards:

-             Campaign against trafficking in women (Rapporteur: Mrs Err, Luxembourg, SOC): held an exchange of views with Ma�tre Hirsch (Belgium), expert, and considered a preliminary draft report;

 

-             Domestic slavery (Rapporteur: Mr Connor, Ireland, EPP/CD): held a hearing with associations and NGOs directly involved by this matter;

 

-             Female genital mutilation (Rapporteur: Mrs Vermot-Mangold, Switzerland, SOC): considered an outline report;

 

-              Representatives to meetings organised by other committees : appointed:

. Mrs Busic (Croatia, EPP/CD) to attend the Fourth meeting of women parliamentarians of the Inter-Parliamentary Union: (Jakarta, 15 October 2000);

 

. Mrs Keltosova (Slovakia, EDG) and Mrs Poptodorova (Bulgaria, SOC) to attend the Information forum on national policies in the field of equality between women and men “Human Rights of girls and youg women in Europe: Questions and challenges for the 21st century” (Bratislava, 19-21 October 2000);

 

-              the participation to meetings organised by other bodies:

 

     . Fact-finding mission on the humanitarian situation of returnees to Kosovo organised by the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Demography (Pristina, 11-13 September 2000): heard a statement by Mr Connor (Ireland, EPP/CD);

 

-                      the work of the Committee: considered the work programme of the Committee;

 

-                      its next meetings: decided to meet as follows:

         . Strasbourg, during the 2000 fourth part-session of the Assembly (28 September);

         . Helsinki, 13-14 November 2000;

         . Paris, Tuesday 9 January 2001 at 10 am (Council of Europe Office).
