FOR THE ATTENTION OF MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE ON THE HONOURING OF OBLIGATIONS AND COMMITMENTS BY MEMBER STATES

The Committee on the Honouring of Obligations and Commitments by Member States of the Council of Europe, meeting in Strasbourg on 4 April 2000, with Mr Mota Amaral in the Chair:
- Reform of the institutions in Ukraine (co-rapporteurs: Mrs Severinsen, Denmark, LDR, and Mrs Wohlwend, Liechtenstein, EPP/CD): took position on amendments to the draft recommendation on the reform of the institutions in Ukraine, in view of the debate to be held on 5 April 2000;
- the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (co-rapporteurs: MM. Dumitrescu, Romania, SOC and Sinka, Latvia, EDG): took position on amendments to the draft recommendation on the honouring of obligations and commitments of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia;
- Chechnya (rapporteur for opinion: Mr Moreels, Belgium, EPP/CD): examined and approved a draft opinion on the report presented by the Political Affairs Committee (rapporteur: Lord Judd, United Kingdom, SOC) and appointed Mr Gross (Switzerland, SOC) to present it, in Mr Moreels absence, to the Assembly during the debate to be held on 6 April 2000;
- Turkey (co-rapporteurs: MM. Bársony, Hungary, SOC and Zierer, Germany, EPP/CD): heard a statement on the co-rapporteurs fact-finding visit to the country (26-30 March 2000) and invited them to submit a written report at a next meeting;
- Croatia (co-rapporteurs: M. Jaskiernia, Poland, SOC and Ms Stoyanova, Bulgaria, EPP/CD): took note of the programme of the visit of the co-rapporteurs to the country from 16 to 19 April 2000;
- Georgia (co-rapporteurs: MM. Eörsi, Hungary, LDR and Diana, Italy, EPP/CD): authorised its co-rapporteurs to pay a fact-finding visit to the country from 10 to 13 May 2000;
- decided to hold its next meeting in Paris on 4 May 2000.
