FOR THE ATTENTION OF MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE ON THE HONOURING OF OBLIGATIONS AND COMMITMENTS BY MEMBER STATES

The Committee on the Honouring of Obligations and Commitments by Member States of the Council of Europe, meeting in Strasbourg on 26 April 2001 with Mr Mota Amaral in the Chair:
- Moldova (co-rapporteurs: Mrs Durrieu, France, SOC and ): elected by secret ballot Mr Vahtre (Estonia, EPP/CD) co-rapporteur, held an exchange of views on the situation in Moldova and underlined the need to accelerate the search for a solution of the case of Mr Ilie Ilascu;
- Progress report (rapporteur: Mr Mota Amaral, Portugal, EPP/CD): heard a statement by the rapporteur, held an first exchange of views on the preliminary draft report and decided to continue considering this item at its next meeting;
- Follow-up to be given to Resolution 1213 (2000) on the honouring of obligations and commitments by the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia: held an exchange of views on the situation in the country, asked its Chairman to request the Macedonian delegation to inform him of the follow-up to Resolution 1213 (2000) adopted by the Assembly during the debate closing the monitoring procedure concerning the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia;
continuing its meeting on 26 April 2001 at 8.30 am, with Mrs Durrieu, 3rd Vice-Chairperson, in the chair:
- elected by acclamation Mr Polohani (former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, EDG) first Vice-Chairman;
- Honouring of obligations and commitments by Ukraine (co-rapporteurs: Mrs Severinsen, Denmark, LDR and Mrs Wohlwend, Liechtenstein, EPP/CD): took position on 17 amendments to its draft resolution and 13 amendments to its draft recommendation, and asked the Vice-Chairman to present the position of the Committee at the debate in Assembly;
- took note of the draft programme of the meeting in Lisbon on 10 and 11 May 2001;
- decided to hold its next meetings as follows:
. Lisbon, on 10 and 11 May 2001;
. Paris, on 8 June 2001;
. Strasbourg, during the Assembly part-session (25-29 June 2001).
