The protection of foreign investments in Moldova

Motion for a recommendation

This motion has not been discussed in the Assembly and commits only the members who have signed it
Since the governance of President Voronin, several privatized companies and joint-ventures (mainly with Western-European capital) were the victim of re-nationalisations in Moldova.
In most cases there was non financial compensation and companies are the victim of numerous administrative and judicial teasing when they look for application of the law in vain.
These practices run counter to the European Convention on Human Rights and its protocols and appendixes.
The Assembly thinks it seems proper to draw up a report to investigate this problem and to formulate the appropriate recommendations to the Committee of Ministers.
