Srebrenica

This written declaration commits only the members who have signed it

It has been ten years since a horrible crime of genocide over Bosnians from Srebrenica took place and we still did not face the entire truth: thousands of innocent persons were killed in an orchestrated and cold blooded manner.

Their different names or the different ways they pray to the God were the sole reason that made them the innocent victims of such a crime.

The perpetrators of the crime, those who were shooting helpless children, elderly women and men, had Serbian names and carried the Serbian flag. That is truth which all of us, and Serbian society before all, should confront.

That road of catharsis shall free us from a collective guilt but it requires pointing at commanders and perpetrators of that crime and rapid action on their arrest.

Institutions of the international community have the same moral responsibility. Bringing Karadžić, Mladić and other from the list of war criminals to justice is the responsibility of all, in the first place of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro, and of the international community representatives as well.

The Council of Europe warns that the crime done in Srebrenica, as well as other crimes, must not remain unpunished.

Only then can the world hope never to witness Srebrenica again.
