1965-1968:       Law studies in London leading to the Bar Final Examination of the Council of Legal Education, for the degree of Utter Barrister.

IV.       Activities and experience in the field of human rights

The European Convention on Human Rights forms an integral part of Cyprus law with superior force over ordinary legislation. The same rights are also protected by the Cyprus Constitution with even stricter provisions on some matters. The public is generally well informed and lawyers, not infrequently, raise issues on human rights. In resolving them, Judges constantly look for guidance to the Strasbourg case law.

1991-1993: President of the Kalogeropoulos Foundation in Limassol, the main object of which is to contribute to the social welfare of residents in one of the municipalities.

1992-2002: Member of the Mitsis' School Trust, which seeks to enhance access to primary and secondary education in the central mountain area of Cyprus.

1976-1980: Member of a Ministry of Justice Committee for the reform of the law on mental patients.

During my service as a District Court Judge I have dealt with various areas of law in different jurisdictions, and I am now currently serving at the Assize Court of Nicosia which deals with serious criminal cases. I have dealt with many issues on human rights, which is an area closely connected with my field of service, and have participated in both local and European conferences on such issues, particularly on asylum law and political refugees.
