Human rights situation in Srebrenica

Violations of fundamental human rights in Srebrenica have continued up to this moment.

Structures of the RS police still employ persons who were engaged in the Srebrenica massacre.

Police and the prosecution of RS have not captured one single war criminal who took part in the massacre. Authorities of RS have not identified one mass grave of killed Srebrenicians.

In Bratunac, the town in Srebrenica region, the burial of the identified victims is forbidden.

The constitutional obligation to establish a national balance in accordance with the 1991 Census in regard to employing civil servants has never been fulfilled.

Problems in the health and education services are immense and the issue of unemployment is catastrophic.

Such a behavior of the authorities of RS has led to the escalation of unrest of the returnees in Srebrenica and to their desperate decision to start leaving their hometown again.

Tents for these double refugees have been set up in Sarajevo two days ago.

This region went through major suffering, during and after the war, and therefore asks special measures and attention to be taken in order to establish a normal life and full respect of human rights.
