Condemning the revisionist statements of the Iranian President

This written declaration commits only the members who have signed it


The undersigned, members of the Assembly:

Dismayed by the statements made by the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran according to which Israel should be “wiped off the map”;

Having regard to Article 2 paragraph 4 of the Charter of the United Nations, which stipulates that “All Members shall refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state, or in any other manner inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations”;

Drawing attention to the repeated statements by the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad disputing the reality of the Shoah and calling the Holocaust a “myth”;

Having regard to the international conference held in Teheran on 11 and 12 December 2006 for the purpose of shedding doubt on the reality of the Shoah;

Regarding as historical fact the genocide perpetrated by the Nazi regime against the Jewish people;

Unreservedly condemn the statements by the Iranian Head of State calling for Israel to be “wiped off the map”;

Firmly condemn any revisionist inclination or any attempt to negate the Shoah;

Condemn all anti-Semitic ideologies;

Condemn the statements by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad disputing the reality of the Shoah;

Condemn the international conference held in Teheran on 11 and 12 December 2006 for the purpose of questioning the reality of the Shoah.
