This written declaration commits only the members who have signed it

Whereas uranium-enrichment activities of Iran, the sponsorship of terrorism and hostage taking of foreigners as well as the recurrent violations of human rights in this country, draw international concern;

Whereas opposition forces represented by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) declare their adherence to democratic values and expose an approach to transition in full compliance with international human rights standards;

Whereas the Peoples Modjahedin Organisation of Iran (PMOI) is a member of the NCRI, and in defiance of the judgment of the Court of First Instance of the European Communities annulling the decision of the Council of the European Union ordering the freezing of the funds of the PMOI in fight against terrorism (T-228/02), the ECOFIN announced on 30 January 2007 the Council intention of ‘maintaining’ the PMOI on the list of terrorist organisations.

We, the undersigned, recalling the Council’s obligation under the rule of law, call for the immediate implementation of the judgment of the Court and removal of the PMOI from the terrorist list, and further draw the attention of the Assembly to rules on composing national/international lists of terrorist organisations and the consequences of disrespecting the rule of law.
