Motion for a resolution | Doc. 13839 | 01 July 2015
The situation of refugees in Lebanon
The reduction of humanitarian assistance in Lebanon is affecting an extremely vulnerable population of over 900 000 refugees. Lebanon hosts more than 1.2 million refugees coming from Syria, adversely affecting the stability of this little country. The World Food Program has reduced its aid by 30%, leaving a large number of refugees in poverty. The situation is alarming and worrisome. Since 5 January the Lebanese authorities have closed their borders to 2 015 refugees from Syria fleeing from war.
The Parliamentary Assembly should study the current events in Lebanon in order to find out the real situation and propose specific measures to tackle this problem.
