Election of Judges to the European Court of Human Rights

1. Report of the Committee on the Election of Judges to the European Court of Human Rights

The Committee held a meeting in Paris on 12 January 2017 with Mr Boriss Cilevičs (Latvia, SOC), in the Chair.

2. Introduction

The Committee on the Election of Judges to the European Court of Human Rights assessed the lists of the candidates to the Court in respect of the Netherlands and Hungary.

the lists of candidates submitted by the Governments concerned.

3. Conclusions of the Committee on the lists of candidates submitted by the Netherlands and Hungary

The Netherlands

The Committee interviewed all the candidates on 12 January 2017.

The Committee recommends, by a large majority, Mr Martin KUIJER, over Ms Jolien SCHUKKING, as the most qualified candidate.

Hungary

The Committee interviewed all the candidates on 12 January 2017.

The Committee recommends, by a majority, Mr Pál SONNEVEND, over Mr Péter PACZOLAY, as the most qualified candidate.
