We, the undersigned, declare the following:

Europe has had an important influence on the 2030 Agenda in key areas such as effective institutions, good governance, the rule of law and peaceful societies. These are the foundations to foster educated, fairer, healthier and more rewarding lives, having sustained and sustainable prosperity and social and technological progress at their core.

We welcome the Agenda's call for the commitment of business and society as a whole driven by a new global partnership underpinned by shared responsibility and mutual accountability.

We call on the Council of Europe to back private sector initiatives boosting ethical investment in sustainable development and shaping the vision of the 2030 Agenda for universal democracy and human rights, working hand in hand with civil society to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Targets of the 2030 Agenda.
