MOTION FOR AN ORDER

presented by Mr HARDY and others

      The Assembly,

1.       Noting that the Committee on Agriculture is currently considering the necessary agricultural and rural policy reforms in Europe;

2.       Concerned that some agricultural practices currently adopted in Europe may involve unnecessary cruelty to animals;

3.       Believing that these practices should be reconsidered,

4.       Asks the Committee on Agriculture to examine the methods by which pâté de foie gras is produced and to consider these in the light of suggestions that this production involves considerable cruelty and to make any recommendations which may be appropriate.
