COMMUNICATION FROM THE COMMITTEE OF MINISTERS

Reply to Recommendation 1207 (1993)

on population movements between the states of the former USSR

(adopted by the Committee of Ministers on 18 February 1993

at the 488th meeting of the Ministers' Deputies)

      The Committee of Ministers has considered Parliamentary Assembly Recommendation 1207 (1993) on population movements between the states of the former USSR with attention and has decided to communicate it to the governments of the member states and to the Governing Body of the Council of Europe's Social Development Fund.

      It draws the Assembly's attention to the fact that the Committee of Ministers, on the one side, and the Russian authorities, on the other, have just agreed a schedule of items suitable for inclusion in a Joint Programme of Activities which includes "Seminars and expert appraisal regarding questions of citizenship, status of foreigners, protection of citizens abroad and migration movements".
