The Assembly,

1.Referring to Assembly Resolution ... (1997) on the situation in Cyprus and to the explanatory memorandum by the late Lord Finsberg, contained in Doc. 7717,

2.Instructs its Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights to closely follow:

  1. the situation of human rights on the whole territory of the island of Cyprus, and in particular,

  2. the implementation of the improvements announced by the Turkish Cypriot Administration in respect of the Greek Cypriots living in the Karpass area, and the implementation of further measures, as recommended by the Secretary General of the United Nations,

and to report back to it in due course.
