Interim reply to all the texts adopted

Committee of Ministers

(adopted on 25 November 1997 at the 609th meeting of the Ministers’ Deputies)

The Committee of Ministers took note of the texts adopted by the Standing Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly on 7 November 1997.

It will examine Opinion No. 203 (1997) on the budgets of the Council of Europe for the financial years 1997 and 1998 in the framework of its debate on the draft budget for 1998.

It will bring Recommendations 1347-1351 (1997) to the attention of the governments of the member States. The competent Rapporteur groups have been instructed to examine Recommendations 1347-1350 with a view to preparing draft replies.

The Secretary General will communicate Recommendation 1348 (1997) on the temporary protection of persons forced to flee their countries to the European Union and to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), for information.

Concerning Recommendation 1351 (1997) on food supply in the world the Committee of Ministers will examine this Recommendation in the framework of follow-up action to be given to Parliamentary Assembly Recommendation 1319 (1997) on the organisation by the Council of Europe of a second European Campaign on North-South interdependence and solidarity in 1998.
