MOTION FOR AN ORDER

on the Aromanian community

presented by Mr FERRARINI and others 1

      The Assembly,

1.       Aware of the problems encountered by the Aromanian community in preserving its rights, particularly at the ethnic, cultural and linguistic levels;

2.       Pointing out that this community lives in several Balkan states, some of which are members of the Council of Europe and parties to the Cultural Convention,

3.       Calls for the protection of the Aromanian community's fundamental rights to be recognised as an ethnic minority and to speak its ancient language;

4.       Wishes to be presented in the near future with a report on the specific situation of the Aromanian community.
