The Assembly,

Welcoming the decision of the European Union to commence negotiations for the accession of Cyprus to full membership of the Union;

Applauding the generous offer of President Clerides of Cyprus of representation for the Turkish Cypriot Community in the negotiations,

Urges Mr Denktash to respond positively to ensure that the interests of the Turkish Cypriot community are represented in the negotiations.
