Rule 6 of the Rules of Procedure on examination of credentials

This motion has not been discussed in the Assembly and commits only the members who have signed it

The Assembly,

Considering that under the terms of Article 25 of the Council of Europe Statute, the Assembly consists of representatives of each member state, elected by its parliament from among the members thereof, or appointed from among the members of that parliament;

Considering that some member countries are federal states, and that it is therefore advisable to specify that where a federal state is concerned Article 25 of the Statute should be construed as referring only to the federal parliament;

Accordingly decides to supplement Rule 6, paragraph 1 of the Rules of Procedure as follows:

"The credentials of the Representatives and Substitutes, elected within the national or federal parliament or appointed from among the members of the national or federal parliament (see Article 25 of the Statute), shall be sent to the President …".
