Reply from the Committee of Ministers

adopted at the 698^th meeting of the Ministers’ Deputies (9 February 2000)

The Committee of Ministers took note of the texts adopted by the Parliamentary Assembly at the first part of the 2000 Session (24-28 January 2000).

It entrusted its Rapporteur Group on Legal Co-operation (GR-J) with the consideration of Opinion No. 215 (2000) and transmitted Opinion No. 216 (2000) to the Steering Committee for Human Rights (CDDH) to take account thereof in its work.

It brought Recommendations 1437 to 1449 (2000) to the attention of the governments of the member states. The Committee of Ministers entrusted Recommendations 1437 to 1443 (2000) as well as 1445, 1446 and 1449 (2000) to its relevant Rapporteur Groups and to the competent committees of experts for consideration and opinion.

The Committee of Ministers will resume consideration of Recommendation 1444 (2000) in the framework of its consideration of the future contribution of the Council of Europe towards restoration of the rule of law, respect for human rights and democracy in Chechnya. It communicated Recommendations 1447 and 1448 (2000) to the Governing Board of the Council of Europe Development Bank and, for consideration, to the 8th Ministerial meeting of the EUR-OPA Major Hazards Agreement.

The Committee of Ministers took note of Resolutions 1209 to 1211 (2000) and of Orders Nos. 560 to 563 (2000).
