Creation of an ad hoc sub-committee for the release of political prisoners in Azerbaijan

The Assembly instructs its Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights and its Monitoring Committee to set up a joint “ad hoc” sub-committee consisting of their respective rapporteurs and the same number of members of the Azerbaijan parliamentary delegation to the Assembly, with the aim, in particular, of releasing the persons considered as political prisoners or granting them a new trial in conformity with Council of Europe standards and in the presence of Council of Europe observers, being aware that this new trial would be a new heavy burden for the nation.
