Signatories: Mr Pieter OMTZIGT, Netherlands, EPP/CD ; Mr Hans FRANKEN, Netherlands, EPP/CD ; Mr Valeriu GHILETCHI, Republic of Moldova, EPP/CD ; Mr Stefan SCHENNACH, Austria, SOC ; Mr Stefaan VERCAMER, Belgium, EPP/CD

In the draft resolution, paragraph 17.3, replace the words "including asylum in cases of threatened unfair prosecution in their home country" with the following words:

"including asylum, as far as possible under national law, for whistleblowers threatened by retaliation in their home countries provided their disclosures qualify for protection under the principles advocated by the Assembly".

Explanatory Note :

(The new text takes into account the wish of the Culture Committee to take into account th whistleblower protection principles advocated by the Assembly, and it harmonises the wording with that adopted after some discussions in the Legal Committee when adopting the new draft resolution on whistleblower protection.)
