Amendment 17 | Doc. 14837 | 10 April 2019

Signatories: Mr Michel BRANDT, Germany, UEL ; Mr Paul GAVAN, Ireland, UEL ; Mr Andrej HUNKO, Germany, UEL ; Ms Violeta TOMIĆ, Slovenia, UEL ; Ms Feleknas UCA, Turkey, UEL

In the draft resolution, paragraph 1, replace the second, third and fourth sentences with the following sentence:

"Bearing in mind that since the EU-Turkey Statement of 18 March 2016 the humanitarian and human rights situation in the so-called hot spots on the islands of Lesbos, Samos and Chios has not improved, the Assembly notes that the "Hot Spot Concept" of the EU does not meet the requirements for the improvement of the situation on the islands because it is not in line with international provisions for refugees as the Geneva Refugee Convention (CSF) and the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).“
