Motion for a resolution | Doc. 14992 | 04 October 2019
The Parliamentary Assembly must contribute to restoring peace in Ukraine
Since the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine, more than five years ago, the Parliamentary Assembly adopted a whole range of resolutions on various aspects of the conflict.
However, so far, the Assembly has not been able to play its role as a platform for dialogue contributing to international efforts aimed at reaching a political solution to the Ukrainian crisis.
The recent exchange of prisoners between the Russian Federation and Ukraine opens a window of opportunity for renewed international efforts to put an end to the conflict in the East of Ukraine on the basis of the Minsk Agreements.
The Assembly should closely follow developments in this process and seek ways to facilitate a constructive political dialogue.
